She was a catholic
She was tall, had black hair, had
large expressive gray eyes, and was better educated than the average in
those days. To me, she was like all mothers; The best cook in the world,
and the little prayers she taught us to lisp in our early childhood have
always been cherished at the most precious memory of Mother. James F
My Mother was one of the pupils that attended school in the old block
school in Madison County. She was later sent to a Boarding school in
Fredricktown and many of her associates were from the families of the
oldest French Settlers who were zealous Catholics, in fact, The school was
conducted in the interest of the Chruch.
She accepted that faith and a zealous adherent. She never had a chance to
attend a Chruch of her faith, after her marriage. James F
