Benjamin was born about 1738 in St. Andrews Par, BRUNSWICK, Va.. Benjamin's father was Michael Cadet YOUNG and his mother was Martha SADDLER. His paternal grandparents were Francis YOUNG and Martha LeGros; his maternal grandfather was John or Thomas SADDLER. He had six brothers named William, Henry, Francis, Thomas Cadet, LeGros and James.
