His paternal grandparents were Solomon REEVES and Elizabeth COX; his maternal grandparents were Nicholas DIX and Lydia UNKNOWN. He had eleven brothers and a sister, named George, William, Noah, David, Samuel, Richard, Solomon (twin), Joseph, John, Isaac, Lorenzo Dow and Lydia (twin). He was the third oldest of the thirteen children.-
