Walter was born about 1105 in Paisley Abbey, Renfrewshire, Scotland. Walter's father was Alan Fitzflaald and his mother was Avelina De Hesding. His paternal grandparents were Fledaldus (Flaald) UNKNOWN and Mrs. Fledaldus Dol; his maternal grandfather was Ernulf De Hesding. He had a brother named William. He was the older of the two children. He died in 1177.-
