Joane (Isabel) was born about 1194 in Elmley, Worcestershire, England.  Joane (Isabel)'s father was Roger De Mortimer and her mother was Millicent De Ferrers.  Her paternal grandparents were Hugh De Mortimer and Maud (Matilda) De Meschines; her maternal grandparents were Walkelin (William) De Ferrieres and Sybil De Braose. She had a half-brother named Ralph.  She died in 1268.
