Gazon was born about 1033. Gazon's father was Roger I "the Spainiard" de Toeni and his mother was Alice Godehilde Fitzwilliam Borrel. His paternal grandfather was Ralph Rodulf II de Toeni; his maternal grandfather was William FitzOsbert. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Elbert, Eliant, Helbert, Ralph III, Robert, Adeleiza and Eliance. He was the fourth oldest of the eight children. He had a half-sister named Agnes.-
