Cecily was born about 1088. Cecily's father was Patrick De Chaworth and her mother was Matilda De Hesding. Her paternal grandfather was Hugh de Chaworth; her maternal grandparents were Ernulf De Hesding and Emmaline De Normandy. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Robert, Hugh, Patrick, Pagen, Morgan and Sybil. She was the fourth oldest of the seven children.
