His paternal grandparents were Duke of Bohemia Oldrich and Duchess of Bohemia Bozena; his maternal grandparents were Margrave of the Nordgau & Schweinfurth Heinrich and Countess of Gleiberg Gerberge. He had four brothers and two sisters, named II, I, Jarombir of, I, Boleslava of and Dymuta of. He was the third oldest of the seven children.-
