Robert was born about 1398. Robert's father was John De Pilkington and his mother was Margaret De Verdon. His paternal grandfather was Roger De Pilkington; his maternal grandparents were John De Verdon and Maud. He had a brother and two sisters, named Edmund, Margaret and Elizabeth. He was the second youngest of the four children. He had a half-brother named William.-
