Count of Verdun was born about 0969. Count of Verdun's father was Godfrey "The Captive" and his mother was Lady Matilda Billung of Saxony. His paternal grandparents were Gonzelon von Ardennes and Uda Von Metz; his maternal grandparents were Herman Billung and Hildegarde von Westerbourg. He had a brother and a sister, named Gozelo and Emmentrude. He was the second oldest of the three children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named John, II and Countess of Flanders. He died on May 28th, 1029.-
