Baldwin II De Réthel 
Baldwin II was born about 1058 in Rethel, Ardennes, France. Baldwin II's father was Hugues I de Réthel and his mother was Melisende de Corbeil. His paternal grandparents were Manasses III de Réthel and Yvette de Roucy; his maternal grandparents were Guitchard (Bouchard) and Adelaide de Crecy. He had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named Gervaise, Cecilia, Hodierna and Mathilde. He died on August 21st, 1131 in Jerusalem, Palestine.General Notes
Baldwin II (of Jerusalem) (died 1131), king of Jerusalem (1118-31), cousin and successor of Baldwin I, with whom he participated in the First Crusade. In 1104 he was captured by the Muslims, who detained him until 1108. After his election as king, on the death of Baldwin I, he campaigned against the Turks, winning control of Halab (Aleppo) and Damascus. Baldwin II was succeeded by his son-in-law Fulk V the Young, count of Anjou.
