Edward was born in 1601 in of,St Donat's,Glamorganshire,Wales. Edward's father was John Stradling Sir Barone and his mother was Elizabeth Gage. His paternal grandparents were Francis Stradling and Mary Mitchell. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named George, Donat, Edmund, Francis, Harry (Henry), John, Thomas, Elizabeth, Frances and Jane.
