William J. was born on April 9th, 1869 in Pike County,Indiana. William J.'s father was John J. Powers and his mother was Rachel Taylor. His paternal grandparents were William Powers and Matilda Scales; his maternal grandfather was Joel Taylor. He had a brother and four sisters, named Joel, Rowena, Capitola Louvina, Cordelia and Bertha E.. He died at the age of 50 on January 20th, 1920.-
