Philip was born about 1483 in of,Kidwelly,Carmarthenshire,Wales and his baptism took place in {Cydifor Fawr}. Philip's father was Thomas ap Morgan Sir Knight and his mother was Jane Herbert. His maternal grandparents were John |ap William| Herbert and Miss Miss ferch Lewys. He had three brothers and two sisters, named John, William, Henry (Harry), Catrin and Miss.
