His paternal grandparents were Thomas Holt and Charlotte Lucy Blackbourn; his maternal grandparents were John Bealmear and Mary Viers. He had four brothers and four sisters, named John Andrew Jackson, Thomas B., Peter Christopher, Henry Clay, Elizabeth Ann, Mary, Sarah Lavinia and Susan.-
