Robert DE HOLAND Sir 
Robert was born about 1270 in of Upholland.1 Robert's father was Robert DE HOLAND Sir and his mother was Elizabeth DE SAMLESBURY. His paternal grandfather was John HOLAND. He was an only child. He died on October 7th, 1328 in beheaded; Boreham Wood.1 General Notes

1st Baron Holand. Was secretary to Thomas, E. of Lancs., but was
previously "a poor knight". Wars in Scot. with Edw I, 1303. Obtained
territorial grants under Edw. II in co. Derby In insurrecrion against Edw
II, he failed to help Thomas of Lancs, against the king & was taken
prisoner & sent to Dover castle by the king. Later released, but the
people were against him for failing Thomas. He was taken prisoner again in
Oct 1328 in a wood near Windsor & beheaded. His head was sent to Henry,
Earl of Lancaster.
