Charles I's father was Pepin III The Short and his mother was Bertha.  His paternal grandparents were Charles Martel and Rotrou De Alemania. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Pipin, Carloman II, Adelaide, Gertrude, Gisela and Rothaid.  He died in Aix La Chapelle.  He was buried in 0814 in Aachen Cathedral.
