Oliva was born about 1184 in Thornhill, Yorkshire, England. Oliva's father was William dela Mare and her mother was Mabel deMalherb. Her paternal grandfather was Ralph dela Mare; her maternal grandparents were John II deMalherb and Maud Fitz Swayne. She was an only child. She died about 1240.
