Nechtan II Mawr mac Erb's father was Erb mac Drust and his mother was Gwyddno verch Caudar.  His paternal grandfather was Drust; his maternal grandfather was Caurdar ap Garwynwyn. He had a half-brother named Nechtan II Mawr mac Erb.  He died about 0612.

He had a biological son named Beli of Strathclyde.
