Gruffudd ap Llywelyn of Gwynedd was born about 1011 in Rhuddlan, Flin, Wales.  Gruffudd ap Llywelyn of Gwynedd's father was King Llewellyn ap Seisyll of Gwynedd and his mother was Angharad verch Maredudd.  His paternal grandfather was Seisyll ap Ednywain; his maternal grandfather was King Maredudd ap Owain of deheubarth. He had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Bleddyn ap Cynfin of Powys, Caradoc ap Cynfyn, Rhywallon ap Cynfyn of Powys and Everydd ap Cynfyn of Powys.  He died  due to slain on August 5th, 1063.
