William de was born about 1170 in Ferrers, derbyshire, England.  William de's father was Earl Robert de Ferrers and his mother was Sybil Braose.  His paternal grandfather was Earl Robert de Ferrers; his maternal grandparents were Baron William Braose and Bertha fitz Miles. He had two sisters named Agatha and Millicent.  He was the youngest of the three children.  He died  due to Gout on September 22nd, 1247.
