Eleanor of Thouars was born about 1055 in Thouars, Poitou, France. Eleanor of Thouars' father was Visc. Aimeri IV of Thouars and her mother was Auremgarde Moulcon. Her paternal grandparents were Visc. Geoffroi II of Thouars and Aenor Alberade. She had a brother and two sisters, named Geoffroi III of Thouars, Eleanor of Thouars and Hildegardeof Thouars.
