Hugh I was born in 1240 in Angouleme, Chrnt, France.  Hugh I's father was Henry De Lusignan and his mother was Isabel De Cyprus.  His maternal grandparents were King Hugh I De Cyprus and Alice De Champagne.  He was an only child.
