Ana's father was Francisco Varas Pacheco and her mother was Isabel Ponce de León.  Her paternal grandparents were Simón Hernández  Pacheco and Ana Varas; her maternal grandparents were Luis Ponce de León y Rivera and Inés Cortés de Rueda.  She was an only child.
