Helgi was born in 0503 in Denmark.1   Helgi's father was Halfdan III Frodasson Denmark and his mother was Sigris Frodadatter.  His paternal grandfather was Frodi VII "Valiant" Fridleifsson Denmark. He had a brother and a sister, named Hroar and Helgi.  He was the oldest of the three children. He had a half-brother named Hraerek "Slaunvanbauga".
