His paternal grandparents were ANTHONY WASHBOURNE and ANN READE; his maternal grandparents were John SAVAGE and Elizabeth MANNERS. He had four brothers and five sisters, named John, Anthony, Henry, Giles, Anne, Elizabeth, Mary, Katherine and Frances. He was the youngest of the ten children.
