Alverlene Logan 
Alverlene was born on July 10th, 1913 in LA.1 Alverlene's father was John Henry Logan and her mother was Katherine Virginia Wilson. Her paternal grandparents were John Robert Logan and Sarah J. Fulmer; her maternal grandparents were William Henry Wilson and Rosannah Elizabeth Waites. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Henry Alton, Mack David, Levie Clotyle, Oscar Devine, Alvin, Dillie Salina, Matty Lou and Catherine Ruth. She was the second youngest of the nine children. She died at the age of 85 on October 20th, 1998 in Webster Parish, LA.1 General Notes

Alverlene Logan (she was my gaunt and reared my mother and her 3 bros.
and myself and my 3 bros. She developed polio at the age of 3 and was
severely crippled by it. She was one of the first patience admitted in
the Shrinners Hospital when it was built in Shreveport La in 1921. She

From her diary.
January 1937
1- I haven't did anything today it rain all day. Louise come a while.
Lewell come we sing some and play the guitar.
2- I haven't did anything today have had the headache all day. I
received a letter from Lilly today.
3- I haven't did anything today. I had company Corene and Mr. Collins,
Cloytle also Dorothy. I always love for so many to come.
4- I haven't did anything today. They covered the house and my at the
noise. I received two letters one from Rilla Mae and one from Lorene.
5- I haven't done anything today only read. Haven't felt well today.
Emma's Birthday, also Bobbie Joe's. Alton put up the heater. Mr.
Watkins bought the hay.
6- I haven't done anything today. Mr. Pace come and we bought some
things from him. A knife, some salt, pepper and soap.
7- I haven't did anything today only read some, fix Ruby Mae doll a
dress. Old Mary help Mama wash. Mr. and Mrs. Wimberly come to Bobbies.
8- I haven't did anything today only read. Alton and Sambo sawed wood
until dinner then it rained all the evening. Louise come.
9- I haven't did anything today, I read some. It has been bad and rain
my! Dillie come a while. Louise come a while. Dillie said the would
take me to show Tuesday nite.
10- Louise and Elyer come last night a while. Louise come this a.m.,
Lewell also. Evelyn come this p.n., also Dorothy and Maxine. Today
been a rainy day.
11- I haven't done anything today it has rain today. Alton went back to
Shreveport. Louise and Ludie come this evening. I wish it would stop
raining.
12- I haven't done anything today only make out a order. I sent my
letter to mail but Papa miss him again. It haven't rain today.
13- I sent my mail today with Papa but miss he miss the post man. It
has rain today also will be so glad when this weather gets settle.
14- I did finally get my order off. I received a letter from Oscar and
Hazel. The cream man come we got $1.30 for 12 lbs. cream.
15. Delmar was in car wreck last night. Car turn over near old Robert
Sims about 7 o'clock p.m. I haven't did anything today much.
16- I haven't did anything but read today. It has been raining all day
almost.
17- We had lot of company today. Ruth and family, Clotyle and family.
Ludie and Louise, Dillie and John, Maude and Bobbie. I had the
headache.
18- I haven't did anything today but read. Today has been awful damp.
Edward did not go to school.
19- Today has been a awful damp day and rather cool. I receive our
order today. Got our Dutch Oven, dish pan, table linen, atomizer and
nasal oil.
20- I have read some today. I thought I would get to go to the show but
it rain so could not go. ( That was last night.)
21- I haven't did anything much today. I cut out a coat and put on a
pillow top, then read some. Got letter from Rilla.
22- I have sew some today and read a little. Maxine come we sing some.
it has turn real cold and raining too. Hope it stop.
23- I haven't done anything today much but read some and sew some.
Louise come a while it has rained all day most.
24- It has rain all day. I have had the headache all morning. Louise
spent the nite here. Maxine came a while this evening.
25- I haven't done much today only just set around and read some. Mama
sent off Monday for her paper. I sent for some post cards.
26- I haven't did anything today. Old Mary help wash. Ruby Mae haven't
been well all day today.
