Mary Elizabeth was born on March 17th, 1923 in Marshall Co., AL.1 Mary Elizabeth's father was James Miles Ledbetter and her mother was Sarah Tinnie Byrum. Her paternal grandparents were Daniel Littleberry Woodville Ledbetter and Mary Elizabeth Kirkland; her maternal grandparents were Willis Byrum and Maggie Elliott. She was an only child. She died at the age of 66 on October 19th, 1989 in Huntsville, AL. She was buried in Walker Baptist Church Cemetery, Marshall Co., AL.1 1 General Notes

I remember Mary rolling her own cigarettes. I offered to buy what ever
brand she wanted (at that time I smoked) and she told me she preferred to
roll her own. I saw her smoke the cigarettes to the very end which caused
her fingers to be yellow. My Great Grandfather Joseph Johnston Rushing
did the same. His fingers would be yellow. He preferred to roll his own.
