Joe A. was born on April 30th, 1903 in Cleburne Co., AR.1 Joe A.'s father was Francis Marion Chastain and his mother was Zora Elizabeth Logan. His maternal grandparents were George Washington Logan and Mary Elizabeth Lowry. He had a brother and a sister, named Augrey O. and Jessie Beatrice. He was the second oldest of the three children.
