Martha Sarah Butler 
Martha Sarah was born about 1739 in Bertie Co., NC.1 She died about 1784 in Bertie Co., NC.1 General Notes

There is much debate and controversially over Martha Butler among her
descendants, especially those that sill live in North Carolina. Some say
she was Mulatto. Harry Thompson states that she was half Tuscarara
Indian. North Carolina Colonial Records indicate that Marthat was free
Mulatto Female in 1761 and 1763 in Jon Castellaw's household. She was
listed in John's household form 1766-1772.
They had three sons and five daughters, named William, John, James C., Elizabeth, Prudence, Martha, Sarah and Penelope.
