Marmaduke 1st Baron de was born in September 1256 in Kilton Castle, Cleveland, Yorkshire, England. Marmaduke 1st Baron de's father was Marmaduke de Thweng , Lord of Kilton, MP, Sir and his mother was Lucy de Brus. His paternal grandparents were Robert de Thweng , Lord of Kilton, Sir Knight and Maud Heiress of Kilton; his maternal grandparents were Peter II de Brus , Baron of Skelton & Danby and Hawise de Lancaster. He had two brothers named Robert de and John. He was the second oldest of the three children. He died at the age of 66 on September 28th, 1322.General Notes
Marmaduke, successor to his brother, Robert. This gallant soldier, so distinguished in the Scottish wars, was summoned to parliament as a Baron from 22 February, 1307, to 18 September, 1322. His lordship m. Isabel, dau. of William de Ros, of Igmanthorpe, co. York, and had issue, William, Robert, Thomas, Lucia, Margaret, and Katherine. His lordship d. in 1323, and was s. by his eldest son, William de Thweng, 2nd baron.
