Robert de was born about 1215 in Staffordshire, England. Robert de's father was Hervey 1st Baron de Stafford , Sir and his mother was Pernell (Petronella) de Ferrers. His paternal grandparents were Hervey Bagot , Lord of Stafford and Millicent de Stafford; his maternal grandparents were William I de Ferrers , 3rd Earl of Derby and Sybil de Braose. He was an only child. He died before June 4th, 1261.General Notes

Robert de Stafford, who in the 25th Henry III [1241], upon doing homage and paying £100 for his relief, had livery of his lands. This feudal lord was in the wars of Gascony, 38th Henry III [1254], and in four years afterwards he had a military summons to march against the Welsh. He m. Alice, one of the daus. and co-heirs of Thomas Corbet, of Caus, co. Salop, and dying in 1282, was s. by his son, Nicholas de Stafford.
