Sir Roger de Pilkington; Lord of the Manors of Pilkington, Cheetham, and Crompton; served under Edward's I and II in Gascony and Scotland, fought at Battle of Bannockburn 1314, MP Lancs 1316; born c1255; married 1st Amery (died 1294/5), daughter of Sir Gilbert de Barton, feudal Lord of Barton, through whom he acquired 1/6 of the Manor of Barton, and had two sons (including a younger son, William, Rector of Swillington 1344); married 2nd by 6 April 1295 Alice, daughter of Sir Ralph de Otteby (who settled the Manor of Otteby upon them and their issue) and by her had a son (Alexander, Lord of the Manor of Otteby, Lincs, contributed money for knighting Edward III's eldest son ["The Black Prince"] 1346); married 3rd c1310 Margery de Middleton (married 2nd by May 1323 Sir Adam de Swillington) and died after 11 July 1322, having by her had two sons (Richard, Adam); his elder son by his 1st wife [Sir Roger].
