His paternal grandparents were William IV Ferrers , of Groby, Sir and Anne le Despenser; his maternal grandparents were John 2nd Baron de Segrave , Sir and Christine De Plessy. He had two brothers and a sister, named Thomas, Ralf and Anne. He was the oldest of the four children. He died on September 15th, 1343 in Groby, Leicestershire, England. Henry, 2nd Baron Ferrers, of Groby, summoned to parliament from 5 June, 1331, to 20 November, 1342. This nobleman, being actively engaged in the wars of King Edward III, both in Scotland and France, acquired very large territorial possessions by grant from the crown for his services. His lordship m. Isabel, 4th dau. and co-heir of Theobald, 2nd Lord Verdon, and in the 5th Edward III [1332], upon doing homage, had livery of the lands of her inheritance lying in Ireland. Of this marriage there were issue, William, Ralph, Philippa, and Elizabeth. His lordship d. in 1343, and was s. by his son, William Ferrers, 3rd Baron Ferrers, of Groby.
