Sigurd was born about 0832 in Of, Maer, Norway.  Sigurd's father was (Jarl Of The Uplands) Eystein "The Chatterer" Glumru Ivarsson (Jarl Of The Uplands) and his mother was Ascrida (Aseda) Ragnvaldsdottir.  His paternal grandparents were Jarl Of Norway Ivar I Oplaendinge Halfdansson Jarl Of Norway and Miss Eysteinsdatter; his maternal grandfather was Rognvald Olafsson. He had four brothers and a sister, named Malahule (Haldrick), Rognvald "The Wise", Sigurd I, Thurstan De and Swanhild.  He was the oldest of the six children.
