Jean I the Victorious' father was Henri de Brabant III Duc de Brabant and his mother was Alix de Burgundy. His paternal grandparents were Henri de Brabant II Duc de Brabant and Marie Hohenstaufen of Swabia; his maternal grandparents were Hugh IV de Burgundy Duc de Burgundy and Yolande de Dreux. He had a brother and a sister, named Henri de Brabant IV and Marie. He died in 1294.-
