Renald II DE CLAREMONT 
Renald II was born in 1085 in Clermont, Oise, France. Renald II's father was Count Hugh DE Creil Of Claremont DE CLERMONT and his mother was Marquerite DE ROUCY. His paternal grandparents were Count Renaud DE CLERMONT and Ermengardis DE CLERMONT; his maternal grandparents were Count Hildouin III DE MONTDIDIER, ROUCY & RAMERU and Heiress Alice DE ROUCY DE RHEIMS. He had three sisters named Ermentrude, Richilde and Adeliza. He was the youngest of the four children. He died at the age of 77 in 1162.General Notes
Credited with the first unification of the country, convertedthe Danes to Christianity, and conquered Norway. After hisBaptism his fathers pagan tomb was transformed into a Christianplace of worship.
Introduced Christianity into Denmark, he had the famous Jellingrune stone erected in his parent memory. He was fatally woundedduring a rebellion by his son and successor, Sveng I.
