Anthony Colby 
Anthony was born about 1605 in Salisbury, Essex, Massachusetts, USA. Anthony's father was Thomas , Esq Of Roos Hall Colby and his mother was Anne Beatrix Jackson. His paternal grandparents were Matthew Colby and 2nd Mary; his maternal grandparents were Richard Jackson and Elizabeth. He was an only child. He died in Amesbury, MA.General Notes

Anthony Colby was the first Colby in America. He came from England between 1620 and 1650. Anthony and Susannah Colby came of the ship Griffin in the Winthrop Fleet to the Mass. Bay Colony in 1630. Anthony was #93 on the list of church members. They went to Cambridge, MA about 1632, then Salisbury and finally Amesbury, MA, where Anthony is buried in the "Golgotha" Cemetary. Anthony was a hard working man and made a great success of subduing the wilderness. He was a large property owner. Freeman on May 14, 1634.
