Neil Earl of was born about 1202 in Carrick, Argyllshire, Scotland. Neil Earl of's father was Duncan Earl de Carrick and his mother was Avelina Fitzwalter Stewart. His paternal grandfather was Gilbert Lord of Galloway; his maternal grandparents were Alan FitzWalter , 2nd High Steward of Scotland and Eve of Crawford. He had a brother and two sisters, named Nichol de, Errick and Martha of. He was the second oldest of the four children. He died in 1256.General Notes
