Robert de was born about 1090 in Caen, Normandy, France.  Robert de's father was Henry I "Beauclerc" King of England and his mother was Nest verch Rhys , Heiress of Carew.  His maternal grandparents were Rhys ap Tewdwr , King of Deheubarth and Gwladus verch Rhiwallon. He had a brother and a sister, named Henry and Maud of. He had three half-brothers and seven half-sisters, named Reynold de, William de, Robert, Maud "The Empress" Princess of, Sibylla, Eustacia de, Elizabeth of, Alice of, Matilda of and Constance.  He died on October 31st, 1147 in Bristol, Gloucestershire, England.
