Hugh "Lupus" d' was born about 1047 in Avranches, Manche, Normandy, France.  Hugh "Lupus" d''s father was Richard le Goz , Viscount d'Avranches and his mother was Emma de Conteville.  His paternal grandparents were Thurstan (Toustien) le Goz , Viscount of Hiemes and Judith (Turuvia?) de Montanolier; his maternal grandparents were Harlevin (Herlouin) Vicomte de Conteville and Herleve (Arlette) de Falaise. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Albert de, Turstin of, Judith d' and Margaret d'.  He was the oldest of the five children. He had a half-sister named Albreda le.  He died on July 27th, 1101 in St Werburg's Abbey, Cheshire, England (as a monk).
