Howard was born on July 14th, 1905 in Turck, Kansas. Howard's father was Samuel Lawrence Zike and his mother was Carrie Leona Hellyer Kline. His paternal grandparents were James Thomas Zike and Malinda Baker. He had a brother and two sisters, named Millard, Madeline and Edith. He died at the age of 73 on May 30th, 1979 in Fayette, Arizona. He was buried in Park Cemetery, Columbus, Kansas.General Notes

he served in the U.S. Marines in Panama in 1920, in the U.S. Army during
