Oliver Loren was born on June 13th, 1913 in Monroe Co., Indiana. Oliver Loren's father was Marshall Frye and his mother was Anna Roberts. He was an only child. Ouarry Foreman Killed in Collision
Oliver Lowen Frye 46, 2940 S. Highway 37, was killed at 7:05 P.M.
Wednesday in a head on collision with an unloaded semi-trailer, nine
miles north of Bedford on Highway 37.
State police said a 1956 car driven by Frye and an unloaded semi-trailer
driven by Olin White, 26, Bedford, met head-on as Frye apparently was
attempting to pass a slow-moving car.
The truck driver was treated at Dunn Memorial hospital in Bedford for
leg injuries. He was not injured seriously, police said.
Dr. Roland E. Wynne, Lawrence County coroner, said Frye died instantly
from multiple injuries. Including
a skull fracture, crushed chest, compound fracture of the left thigh, and
severe leg injuries.
Police said White gave this version of the accident:
"Frye, a quarry worker at the Hoadey Quarry in Monroe County, was headed
north behind an unidentified motorist.
White, who was headed south, said he didn't see the Frye car until a
moment before the crush because lights of the other car blinded him.
The car driven by Frye was in White's lane of traffic when the head-on
collision occurred."
Police and newsmen at the scene of the accident said Frye was pinned in
the car for about 30 minutes.
State Trooper Robert S. Kirk said the car and the semi, owned by Moon
Freight Lines were total losses.
Police said the truck shoved the car 120 feet from the point of impact.
Frye was a forman at the B. G. Hoadley Stone Quarries.
Born June 13, 1913, in Monroe County, he was the son of Marshall and
Viola Roberts Frye, who lived on R.5.
Also surviving are his wife, Mrs. Doris Frye: one son, Keith Frye,
Bloomington; Two brothers Ben and Orville Frye, R. 8. and two sisters,
Mrs. Blaine Deckard, Bloomington, and Miss Hazel Frye, Indianapolis In.
Furneral services have been set for 3 P.M. Saturday at the Greene and
Harrell Funeral Home, with Burial in Clear Creek Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.
