Mary Elizabeth was born on October 4th, 1837. Mary Elizabeth's father was James W. Croucher and her mother was Margaret Catherine Scott. Her maternal grandparents were James Scott and Susannah Zike. She had two brothers and two sisters, named William, Milton, Susannah and Sarah. She was the oldest of the five children.-
