Thomas was born in 1711 in Philadelphia,Northhampton Co,Pennsylvania. Thomas' father was Owen Owen and his mother was Katherine Lewis. His paternal grandparents were Griffith Owen and Sarah Barnes; his maternal grandfather was James Lewis. He had a brother and a sister, named David and Margaret. He was the oldest of the three children.-
