Lofton R. was born in 1876 in Sullivan County, Tennessee. Lofton R.'s father was John Wesley Watson and his mother was Mary Elizabeth Glover. His paternal grandparents were Jonathan Watson and Susan Feathers. He had five brothers and two sisters, named William W., Samuel Joseph, Austin Wakefield, Edgar Maynard, Wiley Gaines, Lily and Rhoda Agnes Dorcus. He was the third youngest of the eight children.-
