Emily Thorp 
Emily was born in 1849 in , Hawkins, Tennessee. Emily's father was William Thorp and her mother was Elizabeth Cocheran. Her maternal grandparents were John Cocheran and Sarah Or Sally. She had two brothers and a sister, named John, William and Sarah. She was the youngest of the four children.
