Benjamin was born on June 26th, 1822.  Benjamin's father was Benjamin Shipley and his mother was Catherine Wells.  His paternal grandparents were Eli Shipley and Elizabeth Kingston. He had five brothers and seven sisters, named Orson, Ednymion, Jesse, Zachariah, Eli Wilson, Mary, Malinda, Rachel, Nancy, Catherine, Christina and Sybilla.  He died at the age of 84 on January 15th, 1907.
