William was born about 1762 in Of, Greensville, Virginia. William's father was Wilson Shehorn and his mother was Mrs. Shehorn. His paternal grandfather was Shehorn. He had a brother and a sister, named John and Martha. He was the oldest of the three children. He died in 1808 in , Greensville, Virginia.
