John Augustine Mckinney was born about 1855 in , Hawkins, Tennessee. John Augustine Mckinney's father was James Woods Rogan and his mother was Margaret McKinney. His paternal grandparents were James Rogan and Sarah Netherland; his maternal grandparents were John Augustine McKinney and Eliza Ayer. He had two brothers and three sisters, named James, Robert Mckinney, Eliza, Fanny and Sarah Woods. He was the third youngest of the six children. He died about 1874 in Of, Hawkins, Tennessee.-
